How To Decorate A Themed Tree For Christmas
I am the first to admit that I don't usually like change when it comes to decorating a themed Christmas tree. The last few years I have kept my favorite Farmhouse Style Buffalo Checked Christmas Decor up for Christmas. I do still have this beauty set up, but I decided to branch out and try something new in a few other rooms of the house.
In our main living room, we have put up a silver and blue themed tree. To represent my husband's favorite sports team. I won't go full-on NFL theme, but I will go with the colors. This way everyone stays happy.
Our entryway has just enough room for a small tabletop tree. This rustic pencil tree was a welcoming curbside find. Someone abandoned this little cutie. I knew I could add some rustic decorations and add to its charm. This is how I put together a simple, rustic, neutral tree with a fun Twelve Days Of Christmas theme.
Decor For A Twelve Days Of Christmas Decorated Christmas Tree
Since this cute 3 Foot Pencil Tree is pretty rustic, I wanted to keep the decorations very simple. Battery operated white lights were a must-have since there is no electrical plug where I wanted to set up the tree. There is even a built-in timer so they come on at dusk and turn themselves off a few hours later.
I started by finding some fun ornaments that I could make with my Cricut Maker. I found this perfect set from Suncatcher Studios. Using 100lb. white card stock, I cut them all and embellished the numbers with some mod podge and red glitter. Of course, the 5 gold rings got some gold glitter instead. Once the glitter was dry I placed them on the tree in order of the song.
Neutral Christmas Tree Ornaments
These plain wood snowflake ornaments were found at Walmart and the Dollar Tree. I am so glad I didn't paint them, they work perfectly for this simple tree.
Burlap ribbon and red and white baker's twine tied on the ends of the branches fill in some bare spots that the ornaments couldn't. A little faux snow sheets and simple bottlebrush trees are all I used to finish the base of the tree.
If you are looking for artwork to match your theme, try printing a pretty piece of sheet music. Add a matching frame to give it a polished look.
You can use these tips for any theme that you choose.
